Dean Perrin, age 95 of Pence, IN died at 2:40 p.m. on Saturday, July 3, 2010 at the Indiana Veterans Home in West Lafayette, IN.
Dean was born near Tab, IN on May 22, 1915. He was the son of Clark and Nancy S. (Dalton) Perrin. He was a 1934 graduate of Williamsport High School. Dean lived in Williamsport before moving to Pence in 1948. On December 29, 1946 he married Mary Lynn Benedict in Williamsport. She preceded him in death on February 4, 1997.
Dean served in the U.S. Army during World War II at the Pacific Theatre. Dean managed Grab It Here Grocery Stores in Cayuga, Paris and Attica from 1946-1948, owned and operated his own grocery store in Pence from 1948-1965, and was self employed selling and repairing Maytag and Whirlpool Appliances. He was a member of Gideon International. He was attending church at the Hedrick Assembly of God. Dean enjoyed fishing and fried chicken, eating it everyday if he could. He loved watching college basketball, visiting with people and spreading the word of Christianity.
Surviving is a daughter-in-law, Merna Perrin of Danville, IL. Dean was preceded in death by his wife, a son, Brad P. Perrin, and a sister, Madeline Smith.
Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in West Lebanon on Wednesday, July 7, 2010 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Services will be there in the chapel on Thursday, July 8, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Charles B. Anderson and Pastor Harold Varner officiating. Interment will be at West Lebanon Cemetery with full military honors. Memorial donations may be made to Gideon International.
