James E. Curry, age 69 of Williamsport died at 5:17 a.m. on Wednesday, October 6, 2010 at his residence.
Jim was born in Bismarck, IL on March 5, 1941. He was the son of Lawrence and Ethel Mae (Williams) Curry. He attended Bismarck schools. He previously lived in Oakwood before serving in the U.S. Navy and came back to Danville, IL. He had been a resident of Williamsport since 1972. On June 30, 1961 he married Mary Jane Tinder in Danville, IL. She survives.
Jim was a member of the Living Water Church. He worked for General Motors, retiring in 1990. He enjoyed woodworking, refinishing furniture and fishing.
Surviving with his wife, Mary, are, 4 daughters, Patricia A. Smith and Susan J. Dale, both of Attica, IN, Donna K. Curry of Williamsport, and Carol L. Burton (husband: Shane) of Mishawaka, IN; 3 brothers, William Curry (wife: Sally) of Oklahoma, Norman Curry (wife: Betty) of Oakwood, IL, and Lloyd Curry (wife: Shirley) of Georgetown, IL; 15 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; several loving nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, Lawrence “Junior” Curry, and a granddaughter, Erica Irons.
Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport on Saturday, October 9, 2010 from noon until service time at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Jerry Badgley officiating. Interment will be at Gundy Cemetery in Bismarck, IL with full military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
