George M. Abel, age 72 of Williamsport, died at 3:42 a.m. on Friday, November 5, 2010 at his residence.
George was born on January 9, 1938 in Danville, IL. He was the son of the late Desmond S. and Berniece (McCoskey) Abel. He was a 1956 graduate of Williamsport High School having excelled in athletics and music and then attended Indiana University. He married his wife, Susan, in Lafayette on July 30, 1982.
George served in the US Air Force. He worked in the banking and insurance industries, and as a sales engineer over the course of his life. He was a member of the F & AM Lodge #315 Pine Village and a Past Master of the F & AM Lodge #38 Williamsport. He enjoyed camping, gardening, playing bridge and golfing. He also loved cooking and grilling for his family and friends.

Brothers and sisters: Margaret Kay (husband: Charles), John Abel, and Debbie Abel all of Williamsport
5 grandchildren: Jakob and Jordan Petan, Alex and Hannah Collier, and Grace Miller
Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport on Monday, November 8, 2010 from 11:00 a.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Don Williams officiating. Interment will be at Highland Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Williamsport Senior Center, Community Action Program for Mac Van, or the IU Simon Cancer Center’s CompleteLife Program.
