Fred P. Barnes, age 96 of Danville, IL died at 3:40 p.m. EST on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at The Waters of Covington where he had been a residence since August. Fred was born on July 18, 1914 in Fithian, IL. He was the son of Charles E. and Elsie Mae (Luman) Barnes. He attended school in Fithian, IL. On September 24, 1938 he married Eunice Middleton in Williamsport, IN. She preceded him in death on August 29, 2004. Fred was a farmer for over 60 years. He was a member of Second Church of Christ in Danville, IL, Scottish Rite 32nd Degree, and former member of Vermilion County Detective Association. He was a former member of Pleasant Grove Bible Chapel where he served as treasurer for over 30 years. He enjoyed flowers and gardening. Surviving are, 1 daughter, Lillie Mae Hickman (husband: Darrell) of Covington, IN 1 son, Jerry Barnes (wife: Rita) of Danville, IL 1 sister, Faye Lancaster of Florida 5 grandchildren, Kevin Barnes (wife: Beth), Brad Barnes (wife: Becky), Sharon Grady (husband: Mikel), Greg Hickman, and Mark Hickman (wife: Megan) 7 great-grandchildren, Jessica, Taylor, Matthew and Andrew Barnes, Emily and Shawn Grady, and Ethan Hickman Fred was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Jessie Covert and Esther Barnes, 3 brothers, Leland Barnes, Charles Edward Barnes II, and Bob Barnes, and a daughter-in-law, Carol Barnes Visitation will be at Second Church of Christ in Danville, IL on Friday, November 12, 2010 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. CST. Services will be there on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. CST with Minister Drew Mentzer officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Second Church of Christ.
