Jackie “Jack” Dean Cole, age 78 of Williamsport, died at 5:40 a.m. on Friday, November 26, 2010 at the Waters of Williamsport.
Jack was born on September 3, 1932 in Williamsport, IN. He was the son of Lewis and Lula (Arehart) Cole. He was a 1950 graduate of Williamsport High School. He was a Warren County resident all of his life and married Carolyn Jean VanReed in 1950 in Earl Park, IN. She preceded him in death on November 12, 2010.
Jack raised cattle and pigs, and farmed with his wife for over 50 years. He also owned J & B Beverage. He was a member of the Pence Christian Church, the Warren County Democrats, and F & AM Lodge West Lebanon #352. He served as president of the Highland Cemetery Association, 4-H leader of Jordan Township, and commissioner of Warren County for 4 years beginning in 1976. Jack enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed all sports and was a Purdue fan. Jack was always known for working hard all the time.
Surviving are, 2 children, Jackie Henderson (husband: David) of Indianapolis and Jill Swaney (husband: Randy) of Williamsport; 2 brothers, Dick Cole (wife: Sylvia) of Williamsport and Jim Cole (wife: Nancy) of Indianapolis; 1 sister, Martha Haynes (husband: Sam) of West Lafayette; 6 grandchildren, Jamie (Jessica) Swaney, Jordan (Rebecca) Swaney, Pat (Stephanie) Cole, Carrie (Mike) Gossett, Sarah (Farley) Schalk, and Andy Cole (companion: Jeni Harrison); and 11 great-grandchildren, Bailey, Hannah, Miranda and Riley Swaney, Aubry, Avery and Jack Cole, Emily and Joey Grundy, Eli Gossett, and Tripp Schalk. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and son, Steven Cole.
Visitation will be on Monday, November 29, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport. Services will be there in the chapel on Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Cathy McCoy officiating. Interment will be at Highland Cemetery in Williamsport. Memorial contributions may be made to the Judyville United Methodist Church, the Good Neighbor fund.
