Joyce M. (Waltzer) Sloger, age 72 of Danville, IL died at 10:15 p.m. CST on Friday, December 10, 2010 at the Danville Care Center.
Joyce was born on November 17, 1938 in Danville, IL. She was the daughter of Charles E. and Isabelle (Faford) Waltzer. She was a 1956 graduate of Schlarman High School and lifelong resident of Danville. She married Phillip C. Sloger in 1958 and he preceded her in death in July 1975.
Joyce worked as a substitute teacher and in the kitchen for Danville School District #118. She was a member of the 300 Room, March of Dimes, Girl Scouts, and PTA. She was pageant director for the AFL-CIO Miss Vermilion County Pageant, a preliminary to Miss Illinois/Miss America Scholarship Pageant She was a bingo caller and crafts director. She was very involved in her community.
Surviving are, 4 daughters, Dawn T. Rouse (husband: George) of Tilton, IL, Christine A. Sloger-Lowery (husband: David) of Wisconsin, Penny C. Huffman (husband: John Huffman, II) of Bismarck, IL and Alice Masengale (husband: Troy) of Niceville, FL;
6 grandchildren, Joy M. Squirres (husband: Eric), William Alan Rouse, Charles P. Rouse, Jake Huffman, Isabelle Huffman, and Myles Masengale; 1 great-grandchild, Zevin Alexander Rouse; cousins, Pam Knott (Husband: Richard), Tom Busbee and Scotty Busbee; and special niece, Debra Darnell. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Charles E. Waltzer, Jr., and sister, Carolyn O. Stone Foster.
