Andrew “Andy” Lee Leithliter Jr., age 65, born March 2, 1959, in Carmi, Illinois, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer on Saturday, September 14, 2024. He was the son of Andrew Lee and Edna (Story) Leithliter.
Andrew grew up in Carmi, IL and attended local schools, where he made many lifelong friends. At 17, he joined the United States Army, where he served as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division in Panama.
After leaving the Army, he married Patricia Warren, with whom he had a daughter, Angela Marie. Andrew and Patricia later divorced, and he went on to marry Michelle Lynn Perry, who survives him.
Andrew dedicated 34 years of his life working as a General Superintendent at The Kelly Group and was set to retire in 2024. He was known for his strong work ethic, selflessness, and kindness. Andrew was a man of few words but was well-known for his hearty laugh. Andrew loved hunting, boating, and spending time in his garage with family and friends often enjoying a cold Busch Light and a shot of Crown.
Andrew is survived by his loving wife, Michelle, his daughter, Angela and her 5 children: Cody, Jesse, Garrett, Layla, and Lillian. Stepdaughter Kayla (Seth) Parker and their 5 children: Maddy, Ben, Scarlett, Charlee, and Trace. Stepdaughter Leah (Shawn) Davis and their 4 children: Kenadie, Brielle, Brooklyn, and Titus. Stepson Joshua Cline (longtime girlfriend Emily Hurych) and his son, Brentley.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, brothers George, James, and Stewart “Bud” Leithliter and sister Peggy Anderson, all of Carmi, IL.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 18, 2024, from 12:00 pm until the time of the service at 2:00 pm at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport, IN. Joe Lees will officiate. Burial will follow at Pine Village Cemetery in Pine Village, IN.
