Bruce Campbell Allhands, 71, of Gilbert, Ariz., died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017, in Gilbert.
Bruce was born June 11, 1946, in Williamsport, the son of John (Jack) Foster Allhands and Miriam A. (Campbell) Allhands. He was a 1964 Williamsport High School graduate and remained lifelong friends with his classmates.
He proudly enlisted in the Navy in 1966 and rose to the rank of Petty Officer Second Class (Torpedoman's Mate). He cherished the time he served on the nuclear submarine USS Nathanael Greene SSBN 636.
Allhands worked at the Indiana Highway Department, General Telephone, CTS, and Rostone Corp before joining Subaru of Indiana Automotive, where he worked from the time the plant opened in 1989 until he became disabled in 2004. Bruce enjoyed hunting, fishing and shooting, and he was a proud member of the NRA.
His first marriage to Deborah Sue Petro of West Lebanon produced a daughter, Dawn Lee Allhands, who died at birth.
He then married Judith Faye (Phillips) Seyfried on Dec. 15, 1973 and they were together for 43 years. She survives.
In addition to his wife, Allhands is survived by a son and daughter-in- law, Corey and Joanna Allhands, and his beloved grandson, Casey, of Gilbert; a stepson, William Michael Seyfried Jr. of Boulder City, Nev.; his brothers, Bradley Allhands of Clinton, Ind., and Barry Allhands of Evansville, Ind.; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and favorite uncle and aunt, Larry and Jaxine Zufall.
Visitation is on Saturday, June 23, 2018, at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport from 10:00 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery, Williamsport with military honors.
