Carolyn Sue (Russell) Peer

Carolyn Sue (Russell) Peer, age 85 of West Lebanon, IN, passed away at the Waters of Covington on January 15, 2025.

Carolyn was born on December 13, 1939. She was the daughter of Ray Dewey Russell and Esther Kathleen (Johnson) Russell. Carolyn attended Newport schools and later received her GED from Ivy Tech. She married Paul L. Peer on June 30, 1957 in Newport, IN and he preceded her in death on November 28, 2014. Carolyn had been a resident of West Lebanon since 1965.

Carolyn worked at RMC. She then worked at the BMV until her retirement in 2002. Following her retirement, she worked part-time at CVS.

Carolyn was a member of the West Lebanon Christian Church. She enjoyed being outdoors, camping, fishing, and feeding the birds. She loved to garden, taking special care of her rosebushes. Carolyn enjoyed reading, doing puzzles, and playing card games. She participated in a Bunko club and enjoyed bowling in leagues with her husband Paul. She enjoyed country music and was an Elvis fan. Carolyn was a talented seamstress, making dresses and quilts. She enjoyed drinking her coffee and eating out. More than anything else, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Surviving are:

3 children, Cathy L. Jones (Jeff) of Pine Village, IN, Connie D. Strickler of Williamsport, IN, and Paul E. Peer (Rebecca) of Attica, IN;

1 half-brother, Robert Henry (Dail) of Newport, IN;

10 grandchildren;

11 great-grandchildren

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband Paul; 3 sisters, Shirley Miller, Cleola Short, and Jackie Roderick; and 1 granddaughter, Cassie Peer.

A celebration of life service will be held at the West Lebanon Christian Church, 201 S. Clinton St, West Lebanon, IN 47991, on Monday, January 20, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. with Minister Bruce Thornsbrough officiating.
