Craig Howell Callaway

Craig Howell Callaway, age 68 of Danville, IL went to be with the Lord at 1:15 a.m. CDT on Monday, July 31, 2017 at the VA Illiana Health Care System in Danville, IL. Craig was born on October 2, 1948 in Danville, IL. He was the son of Aden and Mildred (Howell) Callaway. He was a 1966 graduate of Bismarck High School. He was married to his high school sweetheart for a time. After graduation he then served during Vietnam in the Air Force. After his service, he attended Southern Illinois University and lived in that area from 1972-1986. He then returned to the Danville area where he has resided since that time. Craig worked as a tool and die maker for Berkley Davis and later Tridan in Danville, IL. He was a member of the Second Church of Christ and most recently had attended the Living Word Family Church in St. Joseph, IL. He was a consummate athlete lettering in 4 sports. While he was in college he coached girls softball. Craig was a die hard Cub fan. In his later years he was a go-kart enthusiast. Surviving are, sister, Joyce Hamblin (husband: Dale) of Danville, IL; nephews, Douglas Young of Bismarck, IL, Jory Young of Pittsboro, IN, William Schultz of Indianapolis, IN, Josh Dion and Garrett Young both of Bismarck, IL, and Michael Young and Aden Young both of Danville, IL; and niece, Angie Young Arkins of Indianapolis, IN.  Craig was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. Visitation will be in the chapel at the VA Illiana Health Care System in Danville, IL on Thursday, August 3, 2017 from noon until service time at 2:00 p.m. CDT with Pastor Matt Filicsky officiating. Interment will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery in Danville, IL.
