Donald "Don" Edward Hurt

Donald Edward “Don” Hurt, age 67 of Hedrick, IN, passed away at 12:20 p.m. on Sunday, February 20, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Don was born on November 12, 1954 in Lafayette, IN. He was the son of Edward Alvin and Sable Doris (Blaydes) Hurt. Don was a 1972 Fountain Central High School graduate. He was a Warren County resident for over 40 years. Don married Tina Houchens on Thursday, February 17, 2022 and she survives.

Don worked for Tru Flex. He built pole barns and worked in the gravel pit. Don’s main passion was farming which he did for over 40 years.

Don was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #2596 Attica. He was an Indiana University Basketball fan. Don enjoyed boating and fishing. He especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports. Don served on the Fair Board for several years. He enjoyed raising pigs as well as helping his friends and family raise pigs.

Surviving with his wife, Tina, are,

4 children, Jarid Hurt (Brandi) of Eagleville, MO, Summer Richardson (Casey) of Ridgeway, MO, Hilary Castleberry (Shawn) of Eagleville, MO, and Chance Hurt (Abby) of Williamsport, IN;

9 grandchildren, Jordan, Josie, Jilli, Harlee, Griffin, Hope, Colton (Joslynn), Camden, and Henry;

5 bonus grandchildren, Drake (Katie) Fordyce, Adrianne Fordyce, Rainey Fordyce, Brittany Houchens, and Tylee Houchens;

2 great-grandchildren, Hadley and Brody;

2 bonus great-grandchildren, Greyson and Blakley;

Beloved dog, Buddy

Don was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Rondell and Bobby Hurt; and a grand-son, Collin Castleberry.

A graveside service will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery in Hillsboro, IN on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. with Randy Haddock officiating. A celebration of life at the Beef House will follow from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. T Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
