Dorothy Louise (Hart) Hollis

Dorothy Louise (Hart) Hollis, age 81 of Pence, IN, passed away at 11:33 a.m. CST on Sunday, January 3, 2021 at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center in Danville, IL.

Dorothy was born on May 21, 1939 in Lafayette, IN. She was the daughter of Orville Jay and Andrea (Castor) Hart. Dorothy was a lifelong resident of Warren County, residing in Pence since 1975. She was a 1958 graduate of Pine Village High School. Dorothy married John Richard Hollis in Hedrick, IN on March 19, 1971 and he preceded her in death on May 20, 2008.

Dorothy worked at RMC and Bradbury Pillow Factory in Attica. She later worked at Creative Products in Potomac, IL and retired in 2010 from Tru-Flex in West Lebanon, IN.

Dorothy was a member of the Hedrick Church of God where she served as a deaconess and long time Sunday School teacher. She was a Girl Scout leader and helped with Boy Scouts with her husband. Dorothy was a 10-year Warren County

4-H member. She loved quilting and gardening. Dorothy especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

4 children, Karen (Tony) Cheatwood of West Lebanon, IN, Kevin Hollis of Cambridge, WI, Ben (Sarah) Hollis of Noblesville, IN, and Rebekah (Travis) Mathews of Williamsport, IN;

1 brother, Richard Hart of West Lafayette, IN;

13 grandchildren, Andrew, Zachary, Kenan, Kyle, Hope, Isabella, Ellie, Graham, Wesley, Roman, Audrey, Elena, and Bert;

Many loving nieces and nephews

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; and sister, Elizabeth Gonzalez.

Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport on Saturday, January 9, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. EST until service time at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor David Cheatwood officiating. Interment will follow at Jordan Cemetery in Pence, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hedrick Church of God or the John R. Hollis Camp Fund.
