Eliza Mary (Hurst) Dysert, 96, of Boswell left this earthly world to be with her savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, October 18th, 2018 at Autumn Trace in Attica, Indiana. She had resided there since February, 2018, formerly from rural Boswell.
Eliza, or "Liz" as she was called by family and friends was born in Rainsville, IN on February 7, 1922. She was the eldest daughter of Robert M. Hurst and Mabel Elizabeth (Jones) Hurst. Eliza attended Rainsville grade school and graduated from Pine Village High School in 1940.
Her junior and senior year she worked at the Arba Brutus family farm doing housekeeping and childcare after school and during the summer. After graduation she did "on the job training" at the Warren County Treasurer's Office and then was offered a job at the AAA Farm Office now FSA. When WWII was over she became engaged to Russell C. Dysert and they were married on June 2, 1946 in Pine Village, Indiana and moved to the Dysert family farm where she became a homemaker. Russell passed away in August, 2008.
Eliza and Russell had one daughter, Mary Beth, who is married to Ike Brubaker of Boswell, IN.
Mrs. Dysert was a member of the Locust Grove United Methodist Church. She was involved in Eastern Star; Locust Grove UMW; Warren County Extension Homemakers; and was a 4-H leader. She served in many leadership capacities.
Eliza was proud of her two granddaughters, Jayme (Erik) Bender, Wadesville, IN and Jennifer (Dustin) Barnard, Boswell, IN. She had five great grandchildren Kaylee, Kade and Kyleigh Bender and Melanie and Kyle Barnard. She is also survived by her two sisters Lois Olds, Lafayette, IN and Lillis Bolin, Otterbein, IN and a sister-in-law Carol Hurst, Attica.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother Bill Hurst and a sister Martha Fisher.
Visitation will be held at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport on Sunday, October 21, 2018 from 2:00-5:00 p.m. Funeral services will be at Grady Funeral Home on Monday, October 22, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Charles B. Anderson officiating. Interment will follow at Locust Grove Cemetery, near Ambia. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Locust Grove Church; Locust Grove Cemetery Association; or the Warren County Community Foundation.
