Eugene L. Benskin, age 68 of Pine Village, IN passed away at 10:20 a.m. on Friday, January 5, 2018 at Franciscan Health Lafayette East. Eugene was born on April 4, 1949 in Williamsport, IN. He was the son of Herschel and Mary (Solomon) Benskin. He was raised in Williamsport and graduated from Seeger High School in 1967. He lived in many other places while serving in the Army for 21 years before returning to Warren County. On October 14, 1989 he married Pamela Kelley. She survives. Eugene served in the U.S. Army for 21 years in many different places. He was a tank torrent and retired from the military as a Master Sergeant. When he returned from the military, he worked at SIA in Lafayette, IN doing maintenance before retiring from there after 15 years. He then worked at Harrison Steel doing maintenance for several years. He was a member of the American Legion Post #259 and served as a Adjutant of Finance and Membership. He was also 6th District Vice Commander of the American Legion. He enjoyed trains, racing, and working on computers. He also loved to spend time with his family and grandchildren. He was passionate about honoring other soldiers, as he knew their great sacrifice. Surviving with his wife, Pamela, are, 2 children, Eugene L. Benskin Jr. of Champaign, IL and Gretchen Stutler (Alan) of Marshfield, IN; siblings, Linda Velasquez (Clem) of Fort Worth, TX and Herschel E. Benskin of Lafayette, IN; and 2 grandchildren, Daisy Mae and Bobby Stutler, both at home. Eugene was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Services will be there on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Don Williams officiating. Internment will follow at Danville National Cemetery in Danville, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association. O
