James Edward York, age 93 of rural Williamsport, IN died at 2:19 p.m. on July 20, 2017 at his residence. James was born on August 26, 1923 in Fairmount, IL. He was the son of Lee and Gersie (McNally) York. He resided in Vermilion County, IN for many years before moving to Warren County where he resided the past 14 years. He was a farmer during his young adult life, then worked as a carpenter for many years. Before retiring he drove a semi-truck for various companies. James attended the West Lebanon Church of the Nazarene and was a member of the F & AM Perrysville. He loved music and was a member of the Happy Valley Boys. Surviving are, children, Mary Anne Cecil, Edward Lee York (Julie), Martha Jane Garza (Richard), and Jonathan Paul York (Roberta); grandchildren, Jesse Cecil (Michelle), Jennifer Jones (Eric), Kate Hajjarian (Pooya), Jennifer London (Chris), Kate Thompson (Travis), and Jordan Clark (Gene); 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. James was preceded in death by his wife, Lois, brothers, Charles York and Alvin “Sarge” York, and 1 great-grandson, Ian Clark. A celebration of life will be held at the West Lebanon Church of the Nazarene on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Bob Trafford officiating with refreshments to follow. The family would like to give a special thanks to his granddaughter, Kate Thompson, R.N., for her loving care she gave to her grandfather. They would also like to thank SouthernCare Hospice for the great care he received. Interment in Gundy Cemetery, Bismarck, IL will be at a later date.
