Janice Irene (Hockensmith) High Martin, age 95, went to be with the Lord October 27, 2018 at 11:05 p.m. at the Williamsport Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, surrounded by her loving children.
Janice was born in Chambersburg, PA on June 19, 1923. She was the daughter of Charles Hockensmith and Edith Everly (Gift) Hockensmith. She attended Chambersburg schools. She married Phillip Howard High Sr. on October 8, 1945 and he preceded her in death on October 4, 1952. She then married George Henry Martin Jr. on February 10, 1958 and he preceded her in death on May 1, 2008.
Janice was a homemaker and also cleaned for local residences and the Williamsport library. She enjoyed yard work and gardening and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was also member of the Williamsport Christian Church.
Surviving are, 2 sons, Phillip High Jr. (wife: Shirley) of Williamsport, IN and Jerry High (wife: Carolyn) of Attica, IN; 1 daughter, Shelley Martin of Lafayette, IN; 6 grandchildren, Krista Bone, Michael High, Phillip High, Richard Fenters, Reggie Fenters and Roxanne Ransom; and 12 great-grandchildren, Elexis, Trevor, Emily, Cati, Emily, Tanner, Mackenzie, Opal, Allison, Hudson, Jordan, and Sara.
Janice was preceded in death by her husbands; 2 sisters, her twin, Janet Ellise, and Geraldine Gordon; and 3 brothers, Don Hockensmith, Orville Hockensmith, and Charles Hockensmith Jr.
Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 from 4.00-7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be in the chapel on Thursday November 1, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Bob Elness officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Williamsport Public Library.
