Janice Kay “Bootsie” (Inman) Meers O’Hern, age 79 of Indianapolis, IN, passed away at 4:10 a.m. on Sunday, August 15, 2021 at Beech Grove Meadows. Janice was born on June 17, 1942 in Danville, IL. She was the daughter of William and Margaret Elizabeth (Amos) Inman. Janice grew up in State Line, IN and lived in Warren County, IN south of West Lebanon for most of her life. She had resided in Beech Grove, IN since 2002. Janice was a 1960 graduate of Seeger High School. She attended Indiana State University. After raising her family, she went on to become an LPN, working in home care. Janice married David Meers February 15, 1964 in Danville, IL and he preceded her in death January 27, 1995. She married Ron W. O’Hern in Gatlinburg, TN on June 7, 2004 and he survives. Janice loved to cook, read, and crochet. She especially loved her grandchildren. Surviving with her husband, Ron, are, 3 daughters, Mary E. Matthews of Indianapolis, IN, Barbara (Tom) Payton of Lafayette, IN, and Shelly (Andrew) Bice of Fort Wayne, IN; 2 sons, Jim O’Hern of Indianapolis, IN and Chris (Samantha) O’Hern of Indianapolis, IN; 2 brothers, William (Cannie) Inman and Robert Inman (companion: Lynn Anderson), both of Williamsport, IN; 2 sisters, Mary Kenworthy of Plainfield, IN and Teri (James) Pierce of Henderson, NV; 1 sister-in-law, Sue King of Indianapolis, IN; 7 grandchildren, Allison Payton, Austin Payton, Kaylynne Bice, Brianna (Lucas) Kirkwood, Dallas O’Hern, Austin O’Hern, and Olivia O’Hern; 4 great-grandchildren, Bristol, Anniston, Paisley, and Blakelynn Lee; Many loving nieces and nephews Janice was preceded in death by her parents; husband, David Meers; and son-in-law, William Matthews. Visitation will be held at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport on Thursday, August 19, 2021 from noon until service time at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Charles B. Anderson officiating. Interment will follow at West Lebanon Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society. Online condolences may be made at www.gradyfuneralhome.com.
