Jasper Clay Wesley

Jasper Clay Wesley, age 85 of Williamsport, IN, passed away at his residence at 5:58 p.m. on Sunday, May 26, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. 

Jasper was born on January 15, 1939 in Somerset, KY. He was the son of Edward D. And Matilda L. (Moore) Wesley. Jasper was a Warren County resident for most of his life. Jasper graduated from Williamsport High School in 1957. He married Dorothy M. Bracken on May 4, 1959 in Jerseyville, IL and she preceded him in death on September 16, 2022. 

Jasper worked at C&D Battery in Attica. He later worked at Dick and Jacks Filling Station. Jasper then began as an apprentice lineman for REMC in Williamsport in January of 1968 and became a Class A Lineman in 1972. He served as line foreman and became operations superintendent in 1991 until his retirement in January 2001. 

Jasper loved hunting and fishing. He enjoyed taking his grandchildren out during youth season to witness their first deer kill and field dressing. Jasper enjoyed woodworking, especially making items for his children and grandchildren. He was also an IU Basketball fan, particularly a Bobby Knight fan.

2 children, Bill Wesley of Williamsport, IN and Missy Smith (Doug) of Williamsport, IN;

3 Brothers, William Winfield “Bouncer” Wesley (Pat) of Humbolt, TN, Millard Thomas Wesley of Kramer, IN, and Roy E. Wesley (Linda) of West Lebanon, IN;

1 daughter-in-law, Kenja Wesley of West Lebanon, IN

10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren

Jasper was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy; son, Gordon “Bucky” Wesley; siblings, Hubert Ray Wesley, Mary Lucille Bowers, Archie Leo Wesley, and Russell Dean Wesley.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 31, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Highland Cemetery in Williamsport with Rev. Charles B. Anderson officiating.
