Joan Lucille (Smith) Jacks

Joan Lucille (Smith) Jacks, age 84 of Williamsport, IN, was reunited with her husband Jerry at 11:45 a.m. on Sunday, October 17, 2021 at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.

Joan was born on September 22, 1937 in Attica, IN. She was the daughter of Roy K. and Violet Lucille (Lily) Smith. Joan graduated from Williamsport High School. She married Jerry Dean Jacks on November 5, 1954 in Williamsport, IN and he preceded her in death on June 23, 2019.

Joan worked as a manager at the Wabash Valley Credit Union. She was also a homemaker. Joan was a member of the Attica Christian Church. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, and traveling with her husband, siblings, and their families. Joan especially enjoyed spending time with her family. She was an avid Indianapolis Colts fan.

Surviving are,

2 daughters, Rebecca Jacks DeShaney of Williamsport, IN, and Diane L. Richardson (Douglas) of New Madison, OH;

1 brother, Kenneth Smith (Marilyn) of Broken Arrow, OK;

2 sisters, Jane Osborn of Attica, IN and Gloria Jacks (Jack) of NM;

3 grandchildren, Kathryn Jacks-Brommeland (Michael); Katrina James “Jamie” DeShaney; and Wm. Travis Richardson;

 2 great-granddaughters, Annalee and Emmarose  Brommeland;

Many nieces and nephews

Joan was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerry; 1 sister, Manitoba Neal; and 3 brothers, Charles R. Smith, Jim Smith, and Roy Smith.

Visitation will be held at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport on Saturday, October 23, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. until service time at noon with chaplain Tom Covington officiating. Inurnment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Attica, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to A Better Way Co-Op or Guardian Angel Foundation.
