Margaret "Peggy" (Cariveau) Jones

Margaret “Peggy” (Cariveau) Jones, age 77 of Lebanon, IN and long-time Williamsport, IN resident, passed away at 6:35 a.m. on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at Signature Healthcare at Parkwood in Lebanon, Indiana. She had been a resident there since February of 2017. Peggy had courageously battled Alzheimer’s disease for more than 13 years. Peggy was born on September 14, 1943 in Grand Forks, North Dakota to Roy and Margaret (Miller) Cariveau. She married James W. Jones, Sr. on December 17, 1960 in Grand Forks, ND. He preceded her in death on March 7, 2000. Peggy obtained her GED in 1979 through Elston in Lafayette, IN. Her scores were so high that she was named a member of the Albert Einstein Society. She enjoyed watching humming birds, planting flowers, playing cards, quilting, crocheting, and bowling. Unbeknownst to the family, Peggy was a wonderful and skilled artist and painted several acrylic paintings. Her biggest joy was spending time with family, especially the children. Prior to her retirement in 2007, Peggy worked at Arnett Clinic for 14 years in various departments. She also provided in-home care to the elderly and disabled in the Fountain and Warren County area for many years. Peggy was most recently a member of the Williamsport Christian Church where she sang in the church choir. Mohave, AZ, and Tom Cariveau of Lakeport, CA; 2 Sisters-in-law, Golda Jones of Evansville, IN and Pat (Don) Easton of Bloomfield, IN; 11 Grandchildren, Nicole (Tyler) Neff of Booneville, IN, Ashlie Alvey of Richmond Hill, GA, Christopher (Heather) Collins of Wayland, MI, Rebecca Collins of Clinton, TN, Craig (Krista) Jones of Boswell, IN, Cara (Josh) Saini of West Lebanon, IN, Danny (Tessla) Boat of Lafayette, IN, Jasmine Jones of Attica, IN, Justin (Companion – Samantha) Davis of Attica, IN, Elizabeth Tonner of Chicago, IL, and Jack Tonner of Charlotte, NC 16 Great-Grandchildren, Lillie & Nijel Alvey, Hayley & Carter Neff, Micah, Josiah, Hannah, Sarah, Elijah and Norah Collins, Autumn & Keith Jones, Sophia Boat, Maddox & Connor Davis, and Mya Davis; Family Friend, Ms. Kristin Hammonds; Several nieces and nephews Peggy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James W. Jones, Sr.; brother, Dale Cariveau; sister, Betty Overmoen; and infant sister, Mary Jane Cariveau. Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport on Thursday, February 11, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be there on Friday, February 12, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. with grandson Christopher Collins officiating. Interment will be at the VA National Cemetery in Danville, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to Signature Health Care at Parkwood, 1001 Grant Street, Lebanon, IN, the Alzheimer’s Association, or charity of choice.
