Michael "Mike" Alan Barnhart

Michael Alan Barnhart, age 69 of Williamsport, IN, passed away at 3:47 p.m. on Sunday, November 17, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.

Mike was born on September 10, 1955 in Williamsport, IN. He was the son of Leroy Edgar and Evelyn Louise (Stout) Barnhart. Mike lived in Warren County for most of his life. He was a 1973 graduate of Williamsport High School. Mike later graduated from Indiana State University, receiving his Master’s Degree in Elementary Education. He married his high school sweetheart Lori (Branz) Barnhart on August 30, 1975 and she survives.

Mike started his teaching career at Williamsport Elementary School in 1977. He served as the Carroll Elementary Assistant Principal and Principal from 1987 until returning to Warren Central as a principal in 1989. Mike returned to his role as a teacher at Warren Central in 1997. He retired after 45 years in education in May of 2022. He was well-known for telling dad jokes to his classes.

Mike was a member of Hickman Heights Christian Church. He enjoyed hunting, vacations, especially cruises, and doing puzzles in the winter time. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren. He especially enjoyed watching his grandsons race their dirt bikes.

Surviving are:

Wife of 49 years, Lori;

Children, Jessica Foust (Kyle) of Perrysville, IN, Cassie Barnhart of Williamsport, IN, Alan Barnhart of Williamsport, IN, and Katie Huber (Cole) of Perrysville, IN;

3 grandchildren, Charles Huber, Karter Huber, and Nora Mae Foust

Mike was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Jeff Barnhart, Rick Barnhart, and Steve Barnhart.

Visitation will be held at Hickman Heights Christian Church on Saturday, November 23, 2024 from noon until funeral service time at 2:00 p.m. ET with Pastor Ian Costandi officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Warren Central Elementary or Hickman Heights Christian Church. The family asks that you dress in casual attire.
