Nedra Ellen (Bartlett) Stump, 87, passed away January 6, 2022 after a valiant 15 year battle with Parkinson's.
Nedra was born on October 8. 1934 in Pence, IN to Robert Clinton Bartlett and Clara Bell High Bartlett, who both preceded her in death. A 1952 graduate of Williamsport High School, she also studied at the Utterback-Brown Business College in Danville, IL. She worked at the Citizen's State Bank until staying home to raise her family, then in her later years, she worked for 20 years at the Montgomery County IN FSA office.
She married her high school sweetheart, James Joseph Stump December 1, 1953 in Attica, IN. They resided in Jordan Township, farming, for many years. Nedra was an active poll worker for many years, assisted with county 4-H (carrying on her own Golden Key responsibilities), was a member of the Williamsport Christian Church as a child and the West Lebanon Presbyterian Church as an adult. She was proud of our county schools and worked to assist with the consolidation. She was a tomboy as a child and retained a sense of fearlessness her entire life. She loved most all things- people, animals, nature, neighbor kids and her kid's friends. She was always generous, but became even more so, after losing a home to fire. She loved to cook and feed everyone, anytime, and her generosity created an open door policy for daily coffee gatherings on winter mornings. She had a beautiful singing voice and was able to be easily found in the house by listening for humming. She was a terrific, entertaining storyteller, with a wicked sense of humor that she shared with us until the end.
She became a wonderful mother to her four children: Rebecca (David) Cutchin, Lafayette, IN, Stephen (Tracy) Austin, TX, Roberta (Timothy) Connelly, Effingham, IL, and J. Christopher (Cindy) of Westfield, IN. Her greatest joys came with expansion of her family through succeeding generations: Jamie, Jennifer, Schuyler, Sara, Jada and Cody, Chris, Erin, Patrick, CJ and Corinne Stump, followed by Aubrey Logan, Maeson, Dean, Gage, Cameron, Sean, Wyatt, Sophia, and Ethan and now by Dakota and Archie. "Mammaw" was terrific at supporting the gang- whether standing in lines for short supply Santa requests, attending sports and school events, snuggling, offering advice, recipes or her time. She loved her family fiercely and was never happier than when surrounded by them. We will miss her greatly.
She is survived by her sister Joan Vaughn, sister-niece Karen Ward Rokas of Hewitt, TX, daughter in love Cindy (Hugh) Black of Rosanky, TX, and her best friend for over 80 years, Joyce Silver, Williamsport IN. Her sister Evelyn Ward predeceased her.
Visitation will be held at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport on Saturday, June 4, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Randy Rhode officiating. Inurnment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Indiana Parkinson's Foundation, 14350 Mundy Drive, Suite 800, Noblesville, IN 46060 or the Warren County IN Community Fund, 31 N Monroe Street, Williamsport, IN 47993.
