Norma Jean (Gater) Rison

  Norma Jean (Gater) Rison, age 83 of Vincennes, IN passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2019 at Willow Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.   Norma was born on April 23, 1936 in Salem, IN. She was the daughter of Oscar E. Gater and Mary Lucille Hopkins. She was a 1954 graduate of Salem High School. On September 10, 1954 she married Jack Jackson in Salem, IN and moved to Danville, IL. She later married Jim Rison.   Norma worked as a secretary most of her working life. She was employed by Hyster and University of Alabama. She worked as the executive secretary at Litchfield Deposit in Litchfield, KY. She also worked as the loan officer secretary at American National in Vincennes, IN and held various positions at First National in Danville, IL. Norma was well respected by all of her employers and was known as a loyal and dedicated employee.   Later in life, Norma was baptized into Catholic Church which gave her great comfort. Norma’s greatest joy in life was spending time with her grandchildren. They all have their special memories of their grammy that will forever be cherished in their hearts.   Surviving are, 1 son, Mike Jackson of Attica, IN; 2 daughters, Lisa (Jackson) Johnson (husband: Dave) of Williamsport, IN and Traci (Jackson) Hill (husband: Dave) of Vincennes, IN; Siblings, Charles Gater (Karen) of Owensboro, KY, and Carol Milner of Bismarck, IL; Grandchildren, TJ (fiance: Amanda) Jackson, Corey (wife: Emily) Jackson, Trevor (wife: LeAnn) Johnson, Drew (wife: Whitney) Hill, and Ali Hill.   Norma was preceded in death by her parents; brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Shari Gater of Louisville, KY, and brother-in-law, Lyle Milner of Bismarck, IL.   A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. at West Lebanon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
