Peggy “Pegi” Sue Yates

Peggy “Pegi” Sue (Smith) Yates, age 78 of Lafayette, IN, passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at her residence. 

Pegi was born on June 1, 1946 in Benham, KY. She was the daughter of George David Smith Jr. and Ruby A. (Meeks) Smith. Pegi was a 1964 graduate of Cumberland High School. She moved to Lafayette in 1966 and had resided there since. Pegi married Brian Lane Yates on July 25, 1985 in Lafayette, IN and he survives. 

Pegi worked at Fairfield Dana in Lafayette. She later worked at Brady Lane Mini Storage until her retirement in 2012. Pegi enjoyed crocheting, quilting, and cooking.

Siblings, Barbara Smith (Bill) of Lafayette, IN, Linda Estep (Eddie) of Benham, KY, Debbie Hendrickson of Somerset, KY, Daveta Gilley (Herman) of Radcliffe, KY 

Grandchildren, Justin Zink (Ashley) of Lafayette, IN, Bailey Shaw (Josh) of Indianapolis, IN, Colby Terry of Seattle, WA, Kelsey Albright (Josh) of Lafayette, IN, AJ Hazlewood(Brittany) of Warsaw, IN, Kyla Hazlewood of Tucson, AZ, Andrea Davis of Attica, IN, and Linsay Kincade (Eric) of Williamsport, IN

Great-grandchildren, Molly, Kooper, Jace, Channing, Elli, Alexis, Logan, Dennsleigh, and one on the way due in November 

Pegi was preceded in death by her parents and 2 sisters, Janice Koger and Frances Bryant
