Philip Allen "Al" Shaffer

Philip Allen “Al” Shaffer, age 64 of West Lebanon, IN, passed away at 4:55 p.m. on December 25, 2020 at IU Health Arnett in Lafayette.

 

Al was born on January 15, 1956 in Danville, IL. He was the son of Philip Elvin and Jerry Lee (Toney) Shaffer. Al was raised in Danville, IL until his service in the U.S. Army. After serving his country, he traveled cross-country on his motorcycle. He moved to West Lebanon in 2002 and had resided there since.  Al married Nikki S. Smith in Williamsport, IN on December 3, 2002 and she survives.

 

Al sold cars and radio air time. He was the manager of several bars and owned Big Al’s Cellar Lounge and Al’s Time Out. Al owned Shifty’s Discount Cycle Supply motorcycle shop. He retired from TruFlex in West Lebanon in 2019. Al loved riding motorcycles, cooking on the grill year-round, playing slots and poker on the computer, and playing drums.

 

Surviving with his wife, Nikki, are,

3 Children, Angi M. Tapscott (Tom Harden) of Oakwood, IL, Jason A. Shaffer (Danielle) of Danville, IL, and Jessica E. Shaffer of Springfield, IL;

2 Step-children, Alysha Engle (Michael Marquess) of West Lebanon, IN and Lance Engle (Tamary Benway) of West Lebanon, IN;

16 Grandchildren;

5 Great-grandchildren;

Bonus kids, Tank & Paul

Special friends, Loser & Lil Bit;

 

Al was preceded in death by parents; sister, Vickie Turner; and brother, Mike Shaffer.

 

Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home, 110 S High St, West Lebanon, IN 47991 on Saturday, January 2, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. until service time at 6:00 p.m. EST with Mark Talbott officiating.
