Rev. James Raymon Keith, age 94 of Veedersburg, IN died at 9:15 a.m. on Monday, August 21, 2017 at the VA Illiana Health Care System in Danville, IL. James was born in Rison, AR on November 2, 1922. He was the son of Cortus Everett and Maggie M. (Embry) Keith. He resided in Oxford, IN and Golden, CO before moving to Veedersburg in 1980. He married Rosie E. Adkisson on May 7, 1942 in Pensacola, FL. She preceded him in death on July 7, 2001. James served in the US Navy as an aircraft mechanic during World War II. He served as an elder in the ministry and also pastored in Oxford, IN, Appleton, WI, Golden, CO and several area churches. He was recently a member of the Covington Church of the Nazarene. In his younger days he enjoyed boating. He loved guns, horses, and doing target practice. He enjoyed being a cowboy on a ranch in Colorado, traveling and was quick thinking with poems and jokes. Surviving are, 2 daughters, Jean Yvonne Taylor (husband: Vic) of Stone Bluff, IN and LaVerne Pavlick (husband: Ken) of rural Williamsport, IN; 1 son, James Edward Keith of Greenville, NC; 1 sister, Betty Lemke (husband: Bob) of WA; 11 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren. James was preceded in death by his wife, Rosie, 6 brothers and 4 sisters. Visitation will be at the Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport on Thursday, August 24, 2017 from noon until service time at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Ken Pavlick officiating. Interment will follow at the Danville National Cemetery in Danville, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
