Richard Louis “Dick” Potter, age 86 of West Lebanon, IN, went to be with his Savior at 7:44 p.m. on Thursday, March 3, 2022 at Franciscan Health in Lafayette.
Dick was born on March 7, 1935 in Williamsport, IN. He was the son of Henry Laurel and Mary Lucille (Sager) Potter. Dick was a life-long resident of Warren County. He was a 1953 graduate of West Lebanon High School. Dick was a 1957 graduate of Purdue University where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics. He was a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity. While enrolled at Purdue he joined ROTC and earned the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. Dick married Donna Lee Stanford in Danville, IL on June 16, 1962 and she survives.
Dick later served in the U.S. Army stationed at Fort Lee Virginia and earned the rank of 1st Lieutenant. After serving in the army, he joined his father Laurel on the Potter Family Farm. He was later joined by his sons Rich and Dave Potter.
Dick was a member of the West Lebanon Christian Church. He was a long time member of the Warren County REMC Board of Directors and the County Committee at the ASCS office. Dick was also a multi term member of the school board and served on the Warren County Council. He was also a member of the Board of Directors at the Citizens State Bank prior to its merger. He was an avid Purdue fan. Dick enjoyed waking up every morning and checking the grain and stock markets. He loved family trips, boating, and traveling. Dick enjoyed supporting his grandchildren in their activities. He loved his dogs, especially his last dog, a black lab Sugar.

3 children, Pam Larson (husband: John) of Williamsport, IN, Rich Potter (wife: Reena) of West Lebanon, IN, and Dave Potter (companion: Lisa Gustus) of West Lebanon, IN;
6 grandchildren, Alex Larson, Tori Larson, Mallory Potter, Ben Potter, Jordan Potter, and Jake Potter
Dick was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Bob Potter, Joan Messing, and Jane Schollaert.
There will be no visitation prior to the funeral service which will be open to family and friends. Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at the West Lebanon Christian Church, 201 S Clinton St, West Lebanon, IN, 47991 with Minister Bruce Thornsbrough officiating. Interment will be at West Lebanon Cemetery with full military honors. Following the graveside service, a celebration of life will be held at the Beef House Restaurant, 16501 N IN-63, Covington, IN 47932 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the West Lebanon Christian Church or the Warren Central Backpack Program.
