Robert E. Lee “Gator” Stephens, age 63 of Williamsport, IN formerly of Helenwood, TN, passed away on Monday, December 6, 2021 at the Terre Haute Regional Hospital. Robert was born on April 3, 1957 near Helenwood, TN. He was the son of Edward “Bill” Stephens and Edith (Watson) Pennington. Robert was raised by his mother, Edith, and Claude Pennington. He lived most of his life in the Attica area and lived in Helenwood, TN and Kentucky before moving back to Williamsport in 2013. Robert was formerly married to Annie Watkins and leaves behind his loving companion, Martha Creekmore. Robert worked as a roofer and in construction. He also worked as a truck stop attendant. Robert helped farm for local farmers. He also worked at Harrison Steel Casting Company and RMC both in Attica. Robert loved guns and dogs. He enjoyed visiting natural tourist attractions with his companion Martha. Surviving with his companion, Martha, are, Son, Joshua Stephens of Rockville, IN; Former step-daughter, Jessica Chase (Chris) of Rockville, IN; Brothers, Timothy Dale Stephens of Lafayette, IN, Ronald R. Stephens of Lafayette, IN, and Shannon Earl Pennington of Chillicothe, OH; Sisters, Theodora Carol Kilkenny of Pataskala, OH, Sara Jane Thomas (Mark) of Hayden, AL, Sharon Gail Stephens of Williamsport, IN, Mendy Pennington Carr (Scott Carr Sr.) of Williamsport, IN, Abera Diane DeLong (Tommy) of Portsmouth, OH; Many loving nieces and nephews Robert was preceded in death by his parents; step-father; brother, Stephen Thomas Pennington; and sister, Doris Melina. Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport on Saturday December 11, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. until service time at 1:00 p.m. EDT with Rev. Bill Scroggins officiating.
