Ronald William Smith, age 74 of Pine Village, IN passed away at 3:06 p.m. on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at Eskenazi Hospital in Indianapolis, IN surrounded by his loving family due to a complication from an infection. Ron was born on March 15, 1943 in Lafayette, IN. He was the son of Preston O. and Mary K. (Butler) Smith. He was raised near Swanington, IN graduating from Fowler High School in 1961. He moved to Warren County in 1967 where he farmed until retiring in 2016. On July 14, 1963 he married Joyce Anne Davisson in Lafayette, IN. She survives. Ron was a member of the Pine Village Christian Church where he had served as a deacon. He was a member of the Pine Village Lions Club, Warren County Fair Board where he served as past president, life member of NRA, and Pine Village F & AM Lodge #315. Ron was an avid hunter, going to Africa twice on trips. He spent his last 26 years in Florida where he enjoyed fishing. He enjoyed and collected classic tractors. He also loved sports cars. Ron enjoyed photography, bicycling, and motorcycle riding. He had his private pilot’s license, airplanes were also a passion. Surviving with his wife, Joyce, are, 2 daughters, Sandra Lynne Nawrot (Robert) of Orlando, FL and Kathleen Dianne Smith (Eleanor) of Minneapolis, MN; 2 brothers, Danny Eugene Smith (Christie) of rural Pine Village, IN and Timothy John Smith (Hisako) of Stockton, CA; sister-in-law, Barbara Smith of North Fort Myers, FL; and 2 grandchildren, Emma Kathleen Nawrot and Ryan Alexander Nawrot. Ronald was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Kenneth Anthony Smith. Visitation will be at Pine Village Christian Church on Thursday, December 28, 2017 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. Services will be there in the church on Friday, December 29, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Paul Stamm officiating. Interment will follow at Mound Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Haven of Hope at the Eskenazi Hospital, Pine Village Christian Church, or Salvation Army.
